Paul McDonald’s distinctive voice and stage presence make him unforgettable, often compared to legends like Tom Petty and Rod Stewart. Born in Auburn, Alabama, and influenced by Southern rock and ’60s/’70s Laurel Canyon sounds, McDonald began performing as a teen. His career took off with bands like Hightide Blues and The Grand Magnolias before he gained national fame on American Idol. Despite success, including a song on the Twilight soundtrack, McDonald left LA to reconnect with his roots in Nashville.
After releasing Modern Hearts in 2018, McDonald spent years refining his sound, eventually finding his voice with The Mourning Doves and producer Bobby Holland. His upcoming album is his most personal work yet. McDonald also founded the One Big Love Festival in Nashville, supporting local artists and charities. Now, he’s ready to share his new music and return to the stage.
