Loreta Kovacic, a talented Houston-based musician known as “the Texas Slav” and “Dr. K,” is a pianist, singer-songwriter, and multicultural artist with a unique blend of styles.

Originally trained in classical piano, she shifted to a broader musical approach after tendonitis affected her career. Kovacic’s ninth album, The Texas Slav, was released in 2023 and reflects her international background and Houston roots, with songs like “Houston,” “Galveston,” and “Fa fa familia.”

Her music has even reached NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Dr. K, who holds a Doctorate in Music from Rice University, performs with her band, the Texas Slavs, featuring Joe Parani on theremin, Jeff Vyner on drums, Bryan McVicker on bass, and Robert Sutton on guitar, captivating audiences of all ages.
