Christi Ayo is a long-time supporter of music in Houston. Now she needs our support. A native Houstonian, Christi left for Los Angeles and became a co-producer on the ABC-TV hit sitcom, According to Jim. In 2007, Christi left her dream job and returned home to care for her elderly mom. Christi is now in treatment for breast cancer. She has undergone surgery and is scheduled for several months of chemotherapy. Between medical expenses and the cost of elderly care, Christi needs our help. Let’s rock this place AND this fund! Here are just a few of the headliners performing to help raise money:
Tracy Newman started as a staff writer on Cheers, won an Emmy co-writing the “coming out” episode of Ellen, co-created the ABC hit comedy, According to Jim and is a respected musician. Her band, The Reinforcements, consists of Gene Lippmann, Rebecca Leigh, John Cartwright, John O'Kennedy and Doug Knoll. Tracy is coming in from Los Angeles specifically to play this benefit and help her former assistant and good friend.
Danny Everitt is a distinctive songwriter, three-time nominee for “Singer/Songwriter of the Year” by the Academy of Texas Music and a “New Folk Winner” at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Many artists around the world have recorded his songs.
Jack Saunders and his partner, Shake Russell, were named Houston’s “Best Vocal Duo” every year for a decade. Playing guitar, mandolin, resonator, and bass, he also tours with top recording artists. The Academy of Texas Music recently nominated Jack for “Studio Musician of the Year.”
Scott McGill, a Beaumont legend, has been a musical icon in our region for almost four decades. This blues guitar legend will be performing with another Houston music icon, Bob Bridges.
There will also be a live and silent auction to raise money for the fund during the event. For more information, please visit facebook.com/christiayofund.
